Downtown Red Lodge
Assessment & Action Plan
April 2006
The Red Lodge Downtown Assessment & Action Plan was sponsored by the Red Lodge Area Economic Development Corporation. Its purpose is to further the efforts to revitalize and diversify the economy of Red Lodge, focusing particularly on the Downtown district as the community's commercial, social and civic center. It provides a detailed blueprint for specific strategic actions that will focus on next steps for the commercial corridor along Broadway, Oakes/Hauser and Platt Avenues and their cross streets. The planning process used a community-based approach, involving a wide variety of community leaders, businesses, and citizens.
The Strategy is organized into six major sections:
- Introduction, background and purpose, including the Main Street Program
- Assessment: consisting of an assessment of Downtown Red Lodge area strengths, challenges and opportunities related to economic restructuring, design, promotion and organization.
- Key Issues and Vision, a prioritization of top issues and vision for Red Lodge by 2010
- Goals, based on community input through a survey, interviews and public meetings.
- Actions, comprehensive strategic blue print action plan to achieve the goals.
- Implementation, including organizational and financial resource opportunities
